NEW  Severe weather shelters open December 4 and 5
Due to expected freezing weather conditions, the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management will activate the county's Severe Weather Shelter Plan. Three shelters will be open Sunday, December 4, 2016 and Monday, December 5, 2016.

Ribbon cutting set for December 4
Kitsap County Public Works is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at Central Park in Keyport on Sunday, December 4 at 2 p.m. Join us and celebrate the completion of the Keyport Sewer and Stormwater Upgrades project and the reopening of Central Park to the community.

This holiday season residents can recycle used cooking oil at no cost at three locations. Instead of pouring fats, oils and grease down drains or throwing it into the garbage, recycle it.

Tickets on sale now for the 26th Annual Conference for Human Rights
Tickets are now on sale for the 26th Annual Kitsap County Conference for Human Rights that takes place 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at the Olympic College Bremer Student Center, 1600 Chester Ave., Bremerton. Join in a day of workshops and discussion exploring implicit bias and how it affects our lives. Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for youth 18 and under and students (high school and college), which includes breakfast and lunch. Tickets are only available online.

Kitsap County residents have the opportunity to express their diverse viewpoints, participate in local government and provide review and input to the Board of County Commissioners by serving as representatives on county advisory groups. These volunteer groups of involved citizens provide Commissioners with a broad-based well of diversity, talent, knowledge and skills to tap into.
