NEW - Sheriff's Office in Manchester November 1 to discuss crime, prevention measures
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office will discuss crime trends and prevention strategies with the Manchester Citizens Advisory Committee at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 in the Manchester Library, 8067 E. Main Street. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The Sheriff’s Office will take questions from the community..

Bridge project, critical area ordinance discussed in Kingston November 2
Construction of a new bridge on West Kingston Road will cause a partial closure of the road for several months in 2017. Residents and local business owners can learn more about the project scope and timeline at a presentation by Kitsap County Public Works to the Kingston Citizens Advisory Council November 2. The meeting takes place 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Road NE.

Get rid of unused Rx drugs and OTC medications.  DEA's Take-back Day is this Saturday!
After collecting and destroying more than 6.3 million pounds of unused prescription drugs and medications during the past six years, the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is continuing its efforts to take back unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications. Three local law enforcement agencies in Kitsap County are participating in the DEA's drug take-back day this Saturday.

White House, Washington state and federal leaders announce major new initiatives for Puget Sound recovery
Today officials from the Obama administration and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and U.S. Reps. Denny Heck, Derek Kilmer and Rick Larsen announced new federal actions to help protect and recover the health of Puget Sound, one of the nation’s largest estuaries.

Family caregivers offered free seminars
November is Family Caregiver Month and in honor of this, Kitsap County’s Aging and Long-Term Care Family Caregiver Support Program is hosting a free seminar for unpaid family and volunteer caregivers from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 9th at the Best Western Silverdale Beach Hotel, 3073 NW Bucklin Hill Road.

Prevent flooding by cleaning gutters and keeping leaves out of storm drains
The National Weather Service is forecasting up to 3” of rain and 60 mph wind gusts Thursday night through Friday morning. A second system will move through the area this weekend. Kitsap residents can help prevent flooding by disposing of leaves properly and keeping the storm drains clear of leaves. Storm drains clogged with leaves can cause local flooding of roads and private property.

Public asked to complete Sheriff’s Office precinct needs assessment
Working in tandem, the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners and Sheriff Gary Simpson have developed a community assessment to examine existing law enforcement facilities and operations located in Kingston and Silverdale and strategize ways to position resources efficiently, in an ever-changing climate, now and well into the future.

As Kitsap County readies to create a refined redevelopment strategy for the Central Kitsap Community Campus in Silverdale, it is pausing again to gather public input at an Open House from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Jenne-Wright Administration Center Gymnasium, 9210 Silverdale Way NW.
